Composition for mezzo-soprano, violin and piano

The composition should deal with Psalm 51, in particular the verse
„Make me to hear joy and delight; that the bones which Thou hast crushed
may rejoice again“, the motto of the 2nd Zepernicker Musikbiennale 2025.

Free textual counterparts to Psalm 51 can be incorporated.

An antiphonal style of music-making between the 3 tone levels: voice, violin
and piano is just as possible as a strictly elaborated trio. The composition
can consist  of one or more movements. The composition should be familiar
with contemporary composition techniques of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The text has to be written in the following languages: German, Latin,
English, Italian, French. The following condition applies to the use of a
non western european language: it must be written in a phonetic spelling
with Latin letters in the vowel part. In this case, a translation in German or
English must be included.

The competition is open to all age groups. The composition may have
already been performed. The submitted work should have a duration of at
least 5 to a maximum of 15 minutes.

The composition must be sent to the postal address
below by May 11, 2025 (postmark) and must contain
the following:

1. One USB stick with the PDF score of the competition composition,
or a printed score (unbound with numbered pages and bar numbers).
The score may not contain the composer’s name, only a password.
The title of the composition may be written.
2. An additional sealed envelope on which the password of the work
must be written. The envelope should contain the telephone number,
email address and full name of the composer a short biography.

The performance of the three selected prize winners will take place on
13 July 2025.

1st prize: 1000 euros / 2nd prize: 750 euros / 3rd prize: 500 euros
